Below is my journal entry from today. I don't usually do that but... Anyway... we're having a great time in Ireland. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you as well for those that remembered that Josiah's birthday was this past Monday. He turned 7. We miss him but we're doing well. Thanks for all your love and prayers.

True Desperation
This is the air I breathe...
Your Holy Presence living in Me

I'm desperate for You
I'm lost without You

One year ago, I was on the verge of losing it all... I wasn't sure if we were going to make it... in life... in family... in the ministry God had allowed us to be a part of... I was on the verge of losing it all... Not to mention that mere months earlier I lost my best friend... my buddy... my son... my hero... my little Josiah... and I would walk around the block and this song takes me back to those days... not that I would even sing it but those were desperate times and I was a desperate man.

And now I was standing here in Southport, England in worship and singing this song and I realized that I am more desperate today than I was one year ago. Why? Because being desperate for God is an attitude of the heart not a circumstance or situation you find yourself in.

Yes... your circumstances and situational positions in life can cause a certain amount of desperation but it doesn't necessarily make you desperate for God. It can make you desperate for an answer... for a solutions... for relief... but not necessarily desperate for God.

And so... things in my life are awesome at this time. Our family is strong... we are each other's joy. Doors are being opened. God is moving things, shifting things, healing hearts and using us and yet even in these wonderful circumstances that God has brought us to...

I'm desperate for You. I'm lost without You. Why? Because it is an attitude of the heart. We need you Lord... you're so good to us. You've made the difference... you are the difference. You are a good God and we are your people. Our lives belong to you. We love you.

That really says a lot! You're right, we are desperate for an answer sometimes more than God. I never thought of it like that. And, I don't want it to be about that, I want Him.

Glad you guys are doing well. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks! Wish Maria and Ben could come too! Tell them hello for us.

I was reading Psalm 23 in the Message today and part of a verse says, "True to your word, you let me catch my breath..." Man, He is the air we breathe. So awesome.

I don't think I've actually ever met you, I'm a Master's alumni, and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that, it was very encouraging and I really needed that.

I always feel as though you can read my mind...being more desperate for GOD and less desperate for an answer...thank you for always sharing and for always reminding me. I miss you and your family and can't wait to see you again soon! Much love!

"Because being desperate for God is an attitude of the heart not a circumstance or situation you find yourself in"...I hope you don't mind me repeating that...The statement implies that you are a "God Catcher".......I can't always explain to others why it's so important to press on in, but you pretty well nailed it with those words...the older I get, the more consumed and passionate I become about finding ways to make my life worship...it is a condition of the heart...nothing matters to me more...my situation does not determine my desperation...I don't want a breath without the presence of God living in me....I also appreciate you saying that your family is strong...I'm sure it's like a safe haven..and a place of peace...that common bond in Christ is a sustaining force in a time when the standard is divorce, not lasting marriage ...My husband and I have been together 25 years...needless to say, we have shared great joys and sorrows. We were talking just yesterday and we both agreed that if it were not for our focus on the Lord, we may not be together....meaning only that circumstances and feelings have tested our faith, but God being in the throne room of our hearts has enabled us both to love beyond what we were feeling and to keep pressing on....your journal is an awesome testimony to that same truth..thanks for sharing it...Love in Christ
